Planck was a space observatory operated by the European Space Agency (ESA), with participation from NASA, from 2009 to 2013. Planck was a space-borne, cryogenically-cooled Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) survey mission capable of studying objects ranging from our Solar System to light reaching us almost from the Big Bang itself. Planck will provide a map of the CMB at high angular resolution, covering at least 95% of the sky over a wide frequency range.
